India plans to invest 1.39 billion US dollars to build ethylene plant

India's state-owned Indian oil company (IOC) recently announced that it will invest about 1.39 billion US dollars to build an ethylene cracking plant (with naphtha as feed) and downstream polymer plant. Since some naphtha users will use liquefied natural gas as feedstock for ethylene plant from April, IOC will see naphtha remaining in the afternoon of December 2. The company plans to use the above-mentioned residual naphtha as feed for the new device

A spokesman for IOC said that the application for a new device had been approved by the executive board. However, the company has not yet revealed the specific location of the new device

at the same time, IOC is building a PX device (with a design annual capacity of 350000 tons) and a PTA device (with a design annual capacity of 553000 tons). These two sets of devices will be located in Haryana State in northwest India, and it is planned to be completed in 2005 according to the specific temperature and pressure requirements
